TAPAS Cultural Foundation was founded in 2006 by Smt. Mahalakshmi Ashwin and Shri. Ashwin Kumar Iyer with a simple, wishful thought — to contribute, in however small a measure possible, to the cultural continuity of Bharatavarsha. Much like the squirrel that carried pebbles to aid the building of Sri Rama’s bridge, TAPAS has, over the years, added its own modest stones in service of Bharatiya Sanskriti, guided by humility, devotion, and a quiet sense of responsibility.
Rooted deeply in Bhakthi, Dharma, and classical aesthetics, TAPAS Cultural Foundation has evolved into a multidimensional cultural institution. The Foundation regularly organises music and dance festivals, lecture series, dharmic discourses, Vedic rituals, and cultural dialogues — creating spaces where art, spirituality, and scholarship converge.

Balayogi, B.Com., ACS & ICWAI (Inter), is a Sanskrit University Gold Medallist with postgraduate qualifications in French and German, and diplomas in Latin and Greek. A multilingual professional and former MEA/UN translator, he has worked internationally in business consultancy and journalism. A disciple of Uthukadu Muthu Krishna Iyer, Kalakkad Ramanarayana Iyer and Dr. M. Balamuralikrishna, he is deeply engaged with Carnatic music, Indian culture and spirituality.
